"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength." — Deuteronomy 6:5 (NIV)
You read a verse at six in the morning. By lunch it's gone, buried under everything that came after it.
That isn't a failure of sincerity. It's a failure of repetition.
Moses knew that. Right after this verse he tells Israel what to do with it: keep these words on your heart, and talk about them — at the table, on the road, lying down at night, getting up in the morning. Not read once and filed away. Spoken, through the ordinary hours, until they're yours.
A page can't do that for you. A voice can.
