"All things are going to take a whole lot longer than we ever thought." ~ Christine
Hey, friends! Are you in a season of waiting? Are you waiting in hope? It can be truly challenging if we have to wait a long time, I know. But, as Lisa said in the intro this week…
"Emmanuel is worth the wait." ~ Lisa
Advent is a season when we can process the wait with the Lord. If we're not great at it (and really, who is?), we're in good company. Just as Chris said that the spiritual gift she lags in the most is the gift of patience, I'm right there, too! We join a long line of Christians who came before us when we lean on Jesus longing for Him to fulfill His promises as He works within us to sanctify and prepare us for what's ahead.
"This whole season of Advent, of waiting, of preparing, of re-orienting is like a divine, spiritual chiropractic adjustment." ~ Chris
Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill what He has spoken to her! — Luke 1:45
This week as we study the story of Elizabeth and Zechariah, let's be reminded that miracles are God's wheelhouse. Impossible is where He begins. Impossible isn't the end; it's the beginning. Let's not be daunted when we see something impossible and instead trust that God is so much bigger!
"When something is in the purpose and the plan of God, and it truly is God, it is always impossible until God steps in." ~ Chris
If you're anything like me, all we see is what's right in front of us, what we're faced with. And there's the waiting. OOF! But, that's fertile ground of the miracles of God. We have to wait for the appointed time. Rarely will we think, "Oh, I think five more years, or 20 more years is just perfect timing to me." Rarely will we understand God's timing beforehand (and sometimes we won't until we get to Heaven!). Don't give up! Keep waiting and hoping. Impossibilities don't hinder God one bit. They actually showcase His supernatural power.
In the waiting, God is doing things that we cannot see in our circumstances, in other people, and in ourselves. As Chris told Lisa in the thick of her adoption process, "The delivery will be worth the labor."
God is always working behind the scenes even though we don't see it. He's at work in that thing that is so hard for you. He's working in the life of that loved one who has fallen away from their faith in Jesus. He's working on what you've been praying and praying and praying for. He's at work on your behalf!
While we're waiting for God to do what only He can do… keep believing! The incarnation is proof that God loves us beyond our ability to understand, He's a miracle-making God, He's a promise-keeping God, and He will bring about what only He can bring about! Hallelujah!
