Although reading the Bible in its traditional thematic organization is by far the most common way to read it — for the obvious reason that it’s the order the church first established some 1600 years ago — it has also become popular in recent times to read the Bible chronologically, in the order the events happened.
I myself have read the Bible this way, and although it can be a little tricky to figure out (as I’ll explain below), it is a great way to more fully immerse yourself in the complete storyline of Scripture.
This article will help you organize the books of the Bible into a chronological reading plan.

Excavations Suggest Early Domestication of Pigeons — May 29: Excavations in Cyprus uncovered remains of at least 55 pigeons from 1550–1200 BC. Bone and isotope analyses suggest the birds bred within the settlement ate diets similar to local humans. Many of the bones were burned and found with imported pottery, furnaces, platforms, and animal remains. The findings suggest early domestication of pigeons as well as their potential religious significance, connecting to their roles in Genesis 8, Leviticus 5:7, and more. (Biblical Archaeology Society)

Egypt Grants More Churches Legal Status, but Many Concerns Remain — May 31: Egypt has granted legal recognition to 191 more churches and affiliated facilities, bringing the total approved since the 2016 Church Construction Law to 3,804. The law shifted authority over church buildings from security agencies to provincial governors, requiring various fees and compliances. Advocates welcomed the approvals but said discrimination concerns remain, including the recent rejection of a petition to make Easter a national holiday. (Christianity Daily)

Although there’s no wrong way to read the Bible, by far the two most common ways to read the books of the Bible in order are thematically and chronologically.
Thematic (or canonical) order is the most straightforward: this is how most Bibles are (and always have been) organized. However, the order differs slightly between traditions, at least when you add in the Apocryphal/Deuterocanonical books included in Catholic and Orthodox Bibles.
This article will walk you through the list of every book of the Bible in order according to traditional canon — including the Apocrypha (clearly marked from the rest).

In order to answer the above question of how to handle weird stuff in the Bible, we must first define what “weird” actually means. A typical definition goes something like this:
“Strikingly unusual, strange, bizarre, supernatural, unexpected, eccentric, and/or unsettlingly different from the norm.”
What is fascinating is that the Bible does not ease us into this kind of strangeness. From the very beginning, Genesis presents a world filled with the unusual, the supernatural, the unexpected, and the deeply mysterious. In fact, the first three chapters alone give us more than enough to work with.
