What if you could let go of the lies—
and finally live free?
|
My wise and beautiful friend, Phoebe, has carried suffering like a backpack for years—a drama-filled divorce, health scares with two of her five children with hundreds of days logged in hospitals, and the anxiety that goes with it all. It doesn't just swirl around her—it grips at her whole being. Somewhere in the middle of it all, she started to wonder, Are these hard things that are happening my fault? Am I defective somehow?
The same lie that had wrapped around me—I am worthless—had wrapped around my dear friend. But God saw her. And He had more for her than the answers. He had healing.
We were in Colorado together for a weekend getaway. One night we ended up at dinner with my friends Stasi and John. John knew Phoebe's story. After dinner we moved to their living room, and John looked at Phoebe, saying gently, "You've been through so much. We could try to explain it...or we could pray."
|
When Prayer Goes Deeper Than Words
|
And so we did.
Phoebe shared her story—raw and brave and painful. The rest of us watched and listened with admiration.
Then things went deeper.
As John prayed, he began to discern and name the spiritual torment Phoebe had been under. He spoke out three spirits attacking her: devastation, shame, and—beneath it all—a spirit of death.
Yes: Death.
She had come to believe that she carried death. That her brokenness defined her. That she was a burden. A curse. A disappointment.

When Truth Breaks Through
|
As John prayed, Phoebe cried. Later she told me that she felt lighter. Like something shifted. She felt peace in her body—and in her home. And I wasn't surprised.
Phoebe was experiencing it: truth setting her free.
Spiritual warfare isn't just a theory. It's not just a biblical concept. It's happening—in our homes, in our minds, in our bodies, in our hearts. And if you don't understand it, you won't know how to fight it.
But once you see it—once you name it—you can take authority over it. You don't have to be a spiritual giant. You don't have to pray perfectly. You just have to remember: The One who is in you is greater than the one who is against you.
You are not crazy.
You are not cursed.
You are not broken beyond repair.
You are loved. And you have authority.
And when you live in that truth—you get free.
And you start setting others free too.

The Truth That Sets Us Free
|
Do you want to taste that freedom? To no longer be held captive by the lies that whisper in your ears and threaten to take over your life?
Your lie may look different than mine does, but in the end our lies all do the same overarching work. They shape our schedules. Our silence. Our relationships. They steal our joy, our voices, our fight. They don't just sit in our thoughts—they script our entire lives. But we don't have to let them anymore.
The first step is to recognize them. The next is to hate them enough to throw them off.
You were not made to live like this. Let's name the lie. Drag it into the light.
And watch for it to lose its power.
