Hey, friends!
Merry Christmas! We are all super excited about Christmas here at FaithGateway, but before we sprint into the hustle bustle of getting ready for all the joys of Christmas, let's linger in Advent to prepare ourselves for our Baby King. Advent is one of God's great kindnesses to us, so let's not miss it. Advent invites us to pause and reflect, to remember, to honestly lament with God, and to reorder our hearts and thoughts toward Him. It's for all of us, those in a joyful and abundant season and those of us enduring trials and suffering. That's part of the beauty. Jesus, Immanuel, came to be with us through it all.
For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. — Isaiah 9:6
Speaking of… Join us for The Case for Christmas OBS with Lee Strobel which started yesterday December 1st. It's not too late to jump in!
Christmas is beautiful! It's fun and festive. Carolers, kids' Christmas choirs, the trees decorated with lights and colorful ornaments, ugly sweaters, presents with shiny ribbon. It's a season of traditions and enough food to feed the whole neighborhood — roast beef (Check out the recipe below!), mashed potatoes, asparagus, cheese soufflé, and Nana's sticky pudding flambéed to the delight of everyone. All of that is wonderful, but in The Case for Christmas OBS we're going to look beyond the traditions, past the sparkle and the big red bows and examine the evidence of that first Christmas — dividing fact from fable. Whip up some hot chocolate, grab your friends and family, and sign up for The Case for Christmas today! It will prepare you to sing with all your heart this Christmas!
Fall on your knees. Oh hear the angel voices.
Oh night divine. Oh night that Christ was born.
If you're looking for a wonderful book to start of the New Year right (It's absolutely jingle bells that we're already talking New Year already, isn't it?!), pick up a copy of Present in Prayer by Jennifer Tucker. Join me in starting fresh with a new prayer and meditation habit for 2026 growing closer to Jesus and leaving stress, anxiety, and spinning thoughts behind.
Also, attention, Christmas shoppers! Don't miss the FaithGateway Gift Guides! There are great discounts for everyone on your list.
Lastly, let's rejoice in our Savior Jesus who stepped into flesh and bone to walk with us, talk with us, and reveal and invite us into the glorious upside-down Kingdom of God.
Grace and peace,
Laurie McClure, Editor
