Hey, friends!
I've got to share with you something super cool that I recently learned. (I'm no theologian, so excuse the rudimentary description.) Did you know that the word for rainbow in Hebrew, keshet (קשת), is also the word for a war bow, like a bow you'd use with an arrow? When God made a covenant with Noah and every living creature of all future generations (Genesis 9:12-17), He metaphorically laid down His weapon pointed at us sinners and instead put a beautiful keshet (archer's bow) in the sky for all to be reminded of His promise never to flood the earth again. And — think about this — what direction is a rainbow pointed? If you were to shoot an arrow through the colorful bow that shows up after rainfall, it would fly heavenward! When we see a gorgeous rainbow that is so stunning we share it on social media, we see God's promise that His wrath for our wrongdoing would never point at His creation again… only at Himself!
That arrow found its mark the day that Jesus was crucified to pay the price for us forever. Doesn't that just blow your doors off? I can't get it out of my mind! Hallelujah!
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy, He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. — 1 Peter 1:3

In more good news, have you heard about our next Online Bible Study? You're going to love it! One of my favorite things about our God is that He loves women. God is pro-female! 12 Daring Women of the Bible OBS starts April 21st! It's different than any study we've done before in that it's not a book study or a topic study; it's a celebration of God's character displayed in the lives of women in the Word! We're going to be studying Shulamite Woman, Deborah, the Proverbs 31 Woman, Ruth, Puah and Shiphrah, and Esther with some of our favorite Bible teachers — Lisa Harper, Bianca Juarez Olthoff, Karen Ehman, Chrystal Evans Hurst, Margaret Feinberg, and Courtney Joseph. AND, as a bonus, you'll have access to the other 6 lesson videos, too. I hope you join us!
Friends, as we near Easter, let's dwell on the rainbow. God loves you and me so much. He even hinted at the plan of salvation to Noah a couple thousand years before Jesus was even born! His plan has always been to clear the path for you and me to have full access to relationship with Him through His own suffering. What breathtaking love!
Grace and peace,
Laurie McClure, Editor
