Hey, friends!
Can you believe that Spring is just about to start springing? It seemed like January took months but February just flew by. And now, Lent is starting in less than a week! Let's spend this period leading up to Easter focusing on our Savior, Jesus — His life, ministry, teachings, and miracles, and especially His sacrifice and resurrection — so that Easter Sunday is wild with joy!
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. — 1 Peter 1:3
Even if (or especially if) you don't normally participate in Bible studies, there's no better one to start with than this upcoming study, so I want to extend a special invitation to join us for The Promise and Power of Easter OBS starting March 17th! Christine Caine and Lisa Harper, two stellar Bible teachers, are going to take us on a journey through Scripture, showing us how every page points to Jesus and His ultimate victory over death and hell. As Lisa says, "Easter is not a point in history. Easter is the point of history."
If you're looking for some excellent books to help prepare your heart and mind for Easter, I highly recommend these gems (PLUS, right now you can get free shipping with code EARLYBIRD):
Tip: Don't miss the FaithGateway Early Bird Easter Sale where you can get great discounts on a plethora of books, study guides, Bibles, devotionals, and more.
While we're talking Easter books, plan ahead for your kids' easter baskets! My #1 go-to gift is The Berenstain Bears Easter 3-Pack Bundle but there are lots of other great choices including the brand new Fiona book Fiona and the Easter Egg Hunt, Twas the Morning of Easter, Jesus Calling Easter Prayers, and the NKJV Color Code Bible for Kids.
The best reading you can do this month is the gospels! I'm joining my local church in reading through the book of Mark and welcome you to read it, too. Mark is the shortest of the four gospels, it's action-packed, and is perfect to listen to if you prefer listening to the Bible with BibleGateway. Above all, whether you're giving up chocolate, or coffee, or social media, or nothing at all for Lent, I pray that you sense the presence of the living Christ, hear His voice, and receive His absurdly overwhelming gift of love and friendship.
Grace and peace,
Laurie McClure, Editor
P.S. Reminder – March 4th LIVE event with Pastor Jonathan "JP" Pokluda, author of Your Story Has a Villain. When you purchase either the book or the study guide from FaithGateway you'll receive free access to the LIVE virtual teaching and Q&A. We hope to see you there! And just for fun, here's a FREE GIFT just for you!
