Hey, friends!
Well, summer has waved its final goodbye and autumn and the school year have arrived. As the air starts to turn crisp and the leaves will soon splash red and gold, we're officially back to regular schedules, and some of us (myself included) are sending our loved ones back to school or university. Praise God we know that Jesus loves them even more than we do and has good plans for their coming year, too. I told my people I wouldn't launch into a rendition of "Sunrise, Sunset", but honestly, how can we not both celebrate and grieve a little at how fast the years fly by?
Since we're getting back to backpacks, routines, and busy calendars, it's time to get back to Bible study. I'm looking forward to diving into the Word in Ruth Chou Simons' Now and Not Yet Online Bible Study starting September 9th and I hope you join me in learning about how living faithfully in our "right now" matters in the Kingdom of God!
For most of us, our right now includes the pressure to perform, the demands of work, family, church, and home, so it's important that we believers enter every day with prayer and praise. This is the day that the Lord has made, and we can be glad and rejoice in it {Psalm 118:24}! One book that has helped me set down anxiety in my daily walk with Jesus especially during busy seasons is Breath As Prayer by Jennifer Tucker. It's become my go-to fall title and I know you'll love it, too.
Autumn is a season of lots of change and transformation. We all feel it. We can focus on all the upheaval in the world, the stresses of work, school, and at home, and the unknowns with the coming election, yes… but we can also worshipfully fix our eyes on Jesus, our Anchor who does not change or shift and whose love and faithfulness are steadfastly reliable. Amen?
Grace and peace,
Laurie McClure, Editor
