Anand died never even having the chance to meet Jesus.
Anand was born in Andhra Pradesh, India, into a traditional Hindu family. He learned about all the Hindu gods, traditions, and rituals from his parents, and naturally Anand followed them. A Hindu bride was chosen for him and he raised a family following the teachings and rituals of Hinduism. Throughout his lifetime, he made some bad decisions—but some good ones too—and at the age of 84, Anand died. Anand was one of over two billion people who will never hear the gospel in their lifetime. Of the two billion unreached people worldwide, 16 million of them die every year having never heard the name of Jesus, having never even met a Christian.
Like Anand, almost a third of the world's population never have the chance to hear the gospel because missionaries never go to them. In fact, less than 3% of missionaries and less than 1% of all mission funding goes to the two billion people classified as "unreached".
