e (aka I) have an obsession to keep busy. We often run around like ants who've lost their trail, pretending that if we cease for a moment life will somehow fall apart.
What we do, in reality, is distracting ourselves from the real, big, and often scary questions.
You know, questions like, "What's the meaning of my life?" Or, "how do I really want spend my dying time on earth?"
And yes, we are dying. We've been dying from the day we were born. There's no point to hide the truth. Especially this truth which has the power to set us free.
“Death is very likely the single best invention of life,” said Steve Jobs. And he was right. Death cuts through the nonessential, it sifts through the bullshit, it gives us the chance to think about the meaning of our own life.
And so next time we find ourselves practicing Busyism - being overly-committed, out of sync, and busy for busyness sake - let's just pause for a moment and reflect on the meaning of what we do.
Let's just pause, take a deep breath, and remember that life is not about how much we do, but the meaning and enjoyment we derive from what we do.
