Just like us, Jesus grappled with Satan during his lifetime. We see this in the Bible both physically, during His temptation in the wilderness, and also internally, like in Matthew 16:23. After explaining to His disciples how He will have to suffer and die, Peter assures Him that this will not, cannot, happen. Jesus rebukes Him by saying "get behind me Satan!" So, just what does this verse mean, and why was Jesus saying it to His well-meaning friend?
