    21 DAYS OF CHANGE
    Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:5-16
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth. - Philippians 2:10
Negative habits often give us a sense of pleasure. Even when we want IV to break them we often have difficulties. However, 2 Corinthians 10:4 reminds us that the weapons of our warfare are mighty in God for pulling down strongholds. The habit may be strong but it can be brought down. How can a person with a negative habit break free? Philippians 2:9-11 gives us a blueprint. Address the habit by name. Subject it to the name of Jesus. Cast out the habit from your life. Declare your victory in Christ.
In Luke 11:24-26, Jesus warns about the danger of casting out an unclean spirit and leaving its place unoccupied. It would return to reoccupy the man with seven more wicked spirits, making him even worse than before. This explains why people breaking bad habits sometimes suffer a relapse.
    Sustaining Your Victory
Replace each bad habit with a good one. Avoid leaving empty spaces in your life.
Announce the change. Make a public commitment to the change.
Cage the old habit. Create physical boundaries that make returning to the old habits very unpleasant and the new ones easier to comply with.
Anticipate vulnerable situations and prepare clear responses in advance. Be alert and flee from any disguised temptation.
Be accountable to someone. Involve others in your journey. Find a trusted partner or partners to help or support you. They would act as a check on you.
Consult an expert or seek professional help if necessary.
Persist in your new life for 21 Days. That's how long it often takes to cultivate a new habit.
Prayer: In the name of Jesus, I break the negative habit of (mention its name) that has held me captive and declare my victory through Christ.
